The Senate of the Mexican States of America (the highest legislative body) on September 14, 2021, ruled to ban the testing of cosmetics on all types of animals in the country. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to official sources in Mexico.
The decision was passed unanimously. In addition to the ban on testing on the territory of the state, the import of foreign cosmetic products, which were created using animal tests, will be prohibited into the country. The import of all products of those brands that practice this approach to product development will also be prohibited.
Mexico became the 41st country to make this decision. Also, similar bills are in force in ten states of Brazil and seven states of the United States.
